Each year Appalachian Hospice Care hosts a luncheon for the Veterans of the Big Sandy region. The event began in 2014 and was held at the National Guard Armory in Prestonsburg, KY. Over the years the luncheon has continued to grow, serving hundreds of Veterans each year, and even outgrowing its venue and moving to the Stumbo-Wilkinson Center at Jenny Wiley State Park in 2017. Each year the Veterans in attendance are served barbecue and fish, have their pictures professionally taken, and are given door prizes and other giveaways.
Appalachian Hospice and Home Health Services is certified by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services and is a member of both the National Hospice and Palliative Care Association and the Kentucky Association of Hospice and Palliative Care.
